WHAT IS BOCCIA?

Boccia is a precision ball sport, similar to bowls and pétanque, that tests muscle control and accuracy. It is one of only two Paralympic sports that have no Olympic equivalent, making it unique to the Paralympic movement.

Athletes compete in individual, pairs, or team events, with classifications (BC1-BC4) ensuring fair competition based on the severity of physical impairment.

Precision Sport

Athletes aim to throw or roll balls as close as possible to a white target ball called the jack.

Strategic Gameplay

Every throw requires tactical thinking, making it as mentally challenging as it is physical.

Paralympic Glory

Boccia has been a Paralympic sport since 1984, with athletes competing at the highest level.

Inclusive Sport

Designed for athletes with significant physical disabilities, making it truly accessible.
