WHAT IS BOCCIA?

Boccia is a precision ball sport, similar to bowls and pétanque, designed for athletes with significant physical disabilities. It is one of only two Paralympic sports that has no Olympic equivalent, making it unique to the Paralympic movement.

The objective is to throw or roll leather balls as close as possible to a white target ball called the "jack." Athletes compete individually or in pairs and teams, with classifications (BC1-BC4) ensuring fair competition.

What makes boccia special is the incredible tactical depth hidden within its simple rules. Every throw requires strategic thinking, making it as mentally challenging as it is physical.
